Project Tools in the Edit Menu

The project tools in the Edit menu: edit project information and comments, show the application log and open the project file in the text editor

Overview

The Edit menu contains – besides the program settings – three tools around the current project: the editor for the project information, the display of the application log, and opening the project in the text editor.

Editing Project Information

Menu Edit > Edit project information opens a dialog with two tabs.

Tab »Project information«

Free text entries about the project, structured into sections:

SectionFields
EditorName, address, phone, email
CustomerName, address, phone, email
ProjectName, address
Customer logoPreview and button Select customer logo… – the selected logo is stored with the project
Other informationYear of construction, variant, service phase

Tab »Comments«

A text field with formatting options for free project notes. The comment appears as the description of the project on the start screen, see Project files and project packages.

With OK the entries are applied, Cancel discards the changes.

Opening the Application Log in the Editor

Menu Edit > Open application log in editor shows the global application log in a window. It contains the messages from VICUS and is helpful when narrowing down problems; via Open log file in text editor… the log file can additionally be opened in the external text editor.

The application log must not be confused with the solver log (screenlog.txt) of a simulation, see Performing the calculation.

Opening the Project in the Text Editor

Menu Edit > Open project in text editor (shortcut F2) opens the current .vicus project file in the external text editor – useful for inspecting the XML directly. A prerequisite is a path to the text editor stored in the program settings.
